There, she accidentally encounters Marquis Rothbart. Mistaking Anna for his missing wife, he forcibly takes her and makes an unexpected proposal. “Become my wife’s substitute.” He then reveals that in order for Anna to return to her original world, she must “bear a child with someone from this world.” While she contemplates this, Rothbart's son, Swanhild, also lingers around her, begging. “I want a mom, Anna.” A relationship with a predetermined end. An offer she can't refuse. Desperate to return to her original world, Anna accepts Rothbart's proposal... * * * “Master, please, ahh, ah!” “Not Master, Roth.” Rothbart whispered, kissing the tip of Anna’s small chin. “Roth, I told you to call me Roth, my Ianna.”
